Facing three consecutive athletic endurance distances at the age of 18, which in themselves represent an enormous challenge, is the great goal of Felix Melchior. The Challenge Barcelona-Maresme will take place on October 6, 2013. The young man from Plauen, Felix Melchior, will be the youngest starter in the world to tackle the long-distance triathlon. The venue is Calella in the Costa del Maresme region east of Barcelona.

“At the age of twelve I had the idea to become the youngest finisher of a long distance triathlon. That was in 2008 and still very far away. Now, five years later, my dream should come true - two weeks after my 18th birthday. The native of Suhl comes from a family in which achieving crazy sporting goals is nothing unusual. His grandfather took part in the first 100-kilometer run in the GDR in the 1970s. His father completed his first marathon in the 80s when he was 13 years old. Felix Melchior wants to continue this “tradition” as the youngest finisher of a long-distance triathlon.

There is no question that this endeavor can only be achieved with adequate training and good preparation. It is not without reason that athletes are only allowed to face this torture after they have turned 18.
